Joan is from Morristown, TN. We currently live in Michigan. Joan and I met in 1993 and were married in May 2001. In March 2003 she developed cerebellar atropy. Prior to 2003, Joan was very active, she enjoyed hiking, backpacking and swimming. She loves animals, especially dogs and horses. When Joan developed ataxia, all of the things she enjoyed became either impossible or so difficult to do.
The cerebellar atropy causes ataxia, which means that Joan requires total assistance for all of her daily activities. It has been very difficult for Joan to experience such a loss of independence. The doctors told her to accept the condition, as there was nothing that could be done. But Joan and I refused to accept that.
Through research, we discovered that stem cell treatment was available in China. After sending Joan’s medical information to Beike Biotech, she was accepted to their program. We are now beginning the fundraising process to cover the cost of Joans treatment. If you would like to help us by donating, please click on the Donation link. We sincerely thank all who contribute to reach our goal.
